Don't go into this expecting the level of direction and production of 2001. With that in mind, the film is a fantastic piece of sci-fi in its own right. It ties up a few missing pieces from 2001, and only adds to the point of that film. The acting is great. The ideas contained within it are as relevant today as they were when the film was released. And the set design is fantastic. All in all, a great film.

A good adaptation of his second of four in the series of books. Like the first film, it's not a completely accurate copy of the book. However, it is still a good film. I wish they'd make the other two films, 2060 and 3001.
