The thrilling sequel to Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi masterpiece, "2001: A Space Odyssey," stars Academy Award-nominee Roy Scheider ("Jaws," "All That Jazz") as an American astronaut sent on a joint U.S.-Soviet space mission to Jupiter in an effort to find out what happened to the missing crew of the original Jupiter mission. The movie is OK but it's definitely not a masterpiece like Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. What I'm very disappointed with is the image quality of the HD version. They used too much image compression resulting in noisy and blocky pictures. Because of this, I regret having bought the movie.

The comparisons to the first film end there. You've never heard of this film for good reason.

Not a perfect movie but nears the scale and ambition of the original.
