West Belfast in the late 1980s.... Martin McGartland (Jim Sturgess, Crossing Over, 21),a cheeky street hustler flogging garments door to door, and his mate Sean(Kevin Zegers, Transamerica, Frozen) try to survive in the terribly repressed catholiccommunity. British police patrols harass young Catholics while the IRA punishmentsquads rule the estates with threats of knee-capping.Captured whilst attempting to escape a police check, Martin is approached by asenior officer Fergus to become an informant butrefuses to grass on his own community. Before long Martin finds himself bothdriving for the IRA whilst accepting a car from Fergus. When a massive bombhe has helped deliver kills both soldiers and civilians at a hotel, Martin realizes morally he has got to try and help stop the killings.He works his way up the ranks as a volunteer for the IRA whilstfeeding information to his British handler and in the process saving lives. Until one day, he is exposed, captured and tortured to within one inch of his life.
