The Eastern Front, 1941: young tank commander Mikhail Kalashnikov is seriously wounded in battle. Unable to work and with no prospect of returning to the front, yet eager to continue to help his country, he begins developing designs for a more robust, effective and reliable assault rifle. With the help of a few train welders, Kalashnikov's first prototype catches the interest of a high-ranking military official. This opens the first of many doors for Kalashnikov, allowing him to take part in country-wide weapons design competitions - pitting his designs and ideas against the most renowned inventors of the Soviet Union. And in his pursuit of perfection, Kalashnikov does everything he can to ensure that the world's most advanced and reliable weapon - the AK-47 - goes into production.

I'm not sure if the audio has been dubbed over but its a little bit slow. Personally enjoyed the short look at this guys life and fight for his design of the ak to be noticed.

Was a welcome change from Hollywood, and on verge of quaint,, was well filmed, acted, and plot was interesting, moved along. Being a mechanical type guy, and inventor, I related to his world, and all the negative personalities which stand in our way. Considering it was based on real events, meant so much more. Russians did the bulk of the fighting in WW2 and lost no less than 8 million, maybe as high as 12 million people. I would like to own a Kalashnikov, already have a Colt 1911 pistol, from Grandfather in WW1. Tremendous pressure to create a gun to save your Motherland. In the end, was moved. Memorable, was transported to that era, a Window through time. .
