Stuarty Pie
Lillo Brancato (looking like a young De Niro) is mesmerising in his role as Calogero & showcases an epic film début performance. De Niro plays his law abiding bus driver father, trying to shied his son from mafia boss Sonny, with whom he is fascinated. Vastly overlooked MOB film, up there with Casino & Goodfellows. "A Bronx Tale" was De Niros directing debut. If, once you've watched the film you do some research, you'll unearth a story equally tragic & film worthy. Enough to break your heart.

This is cult classic stuff but it helps to have done some homework. The movie was made in the mid 1990's and you will hear Sonny talk about the "car door test". This was a locking mechanism that died out in about 1995. Second, do a net search for Chazz Palminteri talking about the movie. He wrote it and was almost penniless.
