Christmas elicits nothing more than "bah, humbug!" from Ebenezer Scrooge (George Scott), a miser whose sole pursuit of financial success has left him a bitter and lonely old man. But a Christmas Eve visit from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future ultimately teaches him to open his heart to the spirit of Christmas and to the joys of friends and family.

Absolutely love it. But I felt it wouldn't be honest of me to give it 5 stars, as I'm not very keen on this film's rather stiff and melancholic version of nephew Fred. I can't help but expect him to be the exceedingly jolly young man with the great boisterous laugh as described by Dickens in the book. Of course, none could ever truly compare to the best portrayal of nephew Fred, played by the unbelievably charming Barry Mackay in the 1938 version. Mackay is pure Christmas cheer personified.

I love this rendition the best. George C. Scott does a wonderful job as Scrooge. The networks seem to be playing every other Scrooge movie but the with George C. Scott. It really upsets me .

George C. Scott is simply astonishing in this classic and in my opinion, only he does the part justice. I couldn't have asked for a better Scrooge.
