About this movie

Oscar®-winner Russell Crowe reunites with Gladiator director Ridley Scott in A Good Year, a Fox 2000 Pictures presentation. Max Skinner (Russell Crowe) is a highly successful investment expert with no time for life outside work. When his estranged uncle dies, Max inherits the vineyard in France where he grew up as a child, and his first intention is to sell the vineyard as quickly as possible. But after spending unexpected time at the Vineyard in France, he discovers a part of himself that he had lost and experiences romance and a blossoming new love affair with a beautiful French woman that changes his life forever. A Good Year is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Peter Mayle.

It's my very favorite movie of all time. I have watched it several times, and each time I discover something new, so it does not get old. Like an intricate painting or a beautiful tapestry, I am drawn into the movie's storyline complexities, both from a bird's eye view as well as with by the details, brush strokes, colors, etc. I cannot recommend this motion picture more highly.

Ridley Scott shines in this film. The casting in this film could hardly have been done better. The production values are top notch. The cinematography, lighting, and the editing are very good. The story\screenplay is engaging, with richly drawn characters, and a moral lessen in the plot that not only rings true, but is nuanced with many underlying reinforcements throughout the film and presented in a cerebral and mature way that is a hallmark of a Ridley Scott film. One of my favorite movies!👍

This is one of my favorite movies, not in the oscar-winning greatest movie ever senses, but as a reliable source of entertainment that can be put on at any time and enjoyed. Lovely scenery, attractive people, and never the urge to wallow in the emotional state. The book was strange and kind of terrible: Oddly paced, oddly toned. The movie is nothing like it. This is a getaway movie. Treat it as such, and enjoy.
