Helen Callaghan (Candaele) for 5 years in the league and won the batting title in 1954. The documentary was seen by Penny Marshall and turned into the Columbia Pictures film starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna

This is a fascinating documentary about the real women that played in the women’s professional baseball league. I loved seeing them get together and play again in their senior years. Just so sweet and inspiring! Amazing personalities.
