About this movie

In this stunning debut feature, writer/director Matthew Petock offers a lyrical portrait of fragmented family life in rural Virginia. Sheryl works as a housekeeper by day, and by night searches for love at a dead-end community dance hall. Meanwhile, her two sons are in the throes of sexual discovery. Fifteen year-old Marc is desperate to lose his virginity, and takes ill-conceived romantic advice from his coworker at a used car lot. And his eleven year-old brother, Stephen, becomes infatuated with his summer school teacher while hoping to win the approval of a group of peers who adamantly detest her. Gorgeously photographed with stark honesty, these glimpses of small-town woe capture at once the singularities and similarities of adolescent and middle-aged longing. MPAA Rating: Not Rated
