Het is oudejaarsavond wanneer op het dak van een Londense wolkenkrabber Martin Sharp (Pierce Brosnan), een uitgerangeerde tv-persoonlijkheid, letterlijk op de rand van de afgrond staat. Hij is te wanhopig om te springen maar staat daarin niet alleen. Ook de alleenstaande moeder Maureen (Toni Collette), de jonge opstandige Jess (Imogen Poots) en de mislukte muzikant JJ (Aaron Paul) ontmoeten elkaar op deze avond en hebben hetzelfde idee. In plaats van te springen maken deze vier vreemdelingen de afspraak dat ze in leven blijven tot Valentijnsdag. Dat betekent wel dat ze nog zes weken moeten overbruggen voordat ze elkaar weer treffen op het dak.

Classificações e críticas

The movie in itself is quite light, even for the topic in hand. What bothered me about it, though, was not the acting (I think the actors didn't have much to work with), but the fact that the essence of all of these characters was switched to something completely different than what the book shows. Having said that, Imogen Poots' was the best acting of the bunch. I will not be the first nor the last to say this, but go and check out the book instead.
