À propos de ce film

From the director of THE IMPOSSIBLE and the producers of PAN’S LABYRINTH, A MONSTER CALLS is a searing and fantastical story of one boy’s journey to confront the truth.

Liam Neeson (Taken) stars as the voice of The Monster, who visits Conor (newcomer Lewis MacDougall) while he struggles to come to terms with growing up, his mother’s illness (Felicity Jones – The Theory of Everything, Star Wars: Rogue One) and spending time with his grandma (Sigourney Weaver – Alien Anthology). The Monster takes Conor on an epic adventure into magical worlds through three tales that will help him confront his nightmare and the truth that threaten to destroy him.

A MONSTER CALLS is a unique and powerful story about growing up and the places we go to understand the world we live in.

A truly dull movie on depressing subject matter that buries an otherwise decent story in a mound of impenetrable fantasy gibberish. The actors are first class but the direction, storytelling and sound are abysmal on a film-destroying scale. The subject matter is highly emotionally charged and yet the film fails to engage the viewer leading to a state of general ambivalence which only gives way to happiness when you realize that it's finally over. To make matters worse, the Google play version of the film lacks subtitles for the hearing impaired. Possibly a small mercy.

Deeply emotional story, honestly one of the best movies I've ever seen. Combines beauty with pain to give you a punch in feels you never saw coming.

I don't know if I could watch this film, it truly captures the emotional situation of its subject matter in an enchanting film with stellar performances. Just know this one requires atleast a box of tissues.
