Academy Award winner Robert Redford (Best Director, Ordinary People, 1980) captures the majesty of the Montana wilderness and the strength of the American family in this acclaimed adaptation of Norman Maclean's classic memoir. Craig Sheffer stars as the young Norman, and Brad Pitt stars as his brother Paul, an irresistible daredevil driven to challenge the world. Growing up, both boys rebel against their stern minister father. While Norman channels his rebellion into writing, Paul descends a slippery path to self-destruction. Co-starring Tom Skerritt as the Reverend Maclean and Emily Lloyd as wild-hearted Jessie Burns. MPAA Rating: PG 1992 Allied Filmmakers, N.V. All Rights Reserved.

This story of two brothers is a man-flick. It does for guys what Thelma & Louise did for women. Definitely an amazingly evocative film, which won awards for cinematography. This single film instilled in me a love for Montana, until I finally visited in May 2012. This film is slow moving and worth every moment, every line, every scenic shot, and every unsaid expression. Beautiful.

Each time I'm "drawn into" this story I can't help but "feel" nostalgic for moments in time that; though I was never part off, I wish I could "return" to. For the hour and 23 mins. acted out in this excellent filming of a great life story re-told, I escape into that "cinematic" wonderland that has and will continue to capture so many. Well any-whey, to those that enjoy a good story Isn't that what a great story is all about? Like fishing it's self. It's "never" really about the fish. Well done. A keeper.

This movie has been one of my favorites since I was about 12 years old. The struggle Norman and Paul go through is one that I believe most will be able to relate to. Do we have the unconditional love we need to care for those who refuse our helping hand? In my opinion it's Brad Pitt's best movie. The scenery is wonderful. This movie and the music with it brings me peace and is one I consider to be a classic.
