Pretentious. Tries to have *deep* meditations on family relationships, humanity, etc. and comes across as substanceless and boring. Story is weak, visual effects alright, and soundtrack made me feel like I was in a hospital waiting room or something. Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones did all they could with the script, which is really too bad. This could have been an interesting film. I also don't appreciate the numerous references made to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Was an homage attempted to Kubrick? Really just distatsteful. If this movie didn't have an awful script then maybe they would have stuck. Maybe. Please, just don't waste your time with this one. Re-watch Interstellar or something instead.

One of the most excruciating boring films and sub-par films I've ever watched. I had anticipated a better watching experience, yet as usual, Hollywood disappoints yet once again with an over-hyped film. Watching this was a waste of time. Heed the numerous low reviews all throughout , they are on point so there is no need to repeat the same in my review. Hollywood continues its downward spiral. My recommendation, CHOOSE SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO WATCH.

I will watch this movie again, though that really isn't an endorsement as much as I want to re-watch a few scenes and see if I missed a detail that would make this movie better. The movie has some interesting visuals, but during those visuals it relies heavily on exposition to further the development of the primary character. This movie has some issues and can be bleak. Without going into spoilers, this movie confronts one philosophical concern about humans expanding into the solar system. Also, there were quite a few cameos in this movie and if you were a fan of movies from the 1990s and early 2000s, you might remember the actors filling in on minor roles.
