I went into this movie with a bit of trepidation and cynicism. I am a bit tired of the Disney remake mill and thought "Great, another money grab". In all honesty, my loyalty to Robin Williams and the other original actors probably also kept me away. However, the first scene had me hooked. The lusciousness of the costumes and sets. I love the setting of the scene and the casting was fantastic (however I was sad that there were no actual middle eastern actors employed in a heavily middle eastern movie) as Aladdin did look almost a spitting image of the original movie. Will did a fantastic job as the Genie and the actress as Jasmine, brilliant. Do your self a favour and watch this movie, it's worth every cent! The musical scenes were just beautiful and absolutely awesome!

This film sapped away the magic of animation and gave nothing in return. Will Smith is not up to Robyn Williams standards and that impulsive, unscripted amazingness that Robyn gave, just never came. The film is pretty much the same as the cartoon, which left you waiting for something more ... something that never came. Probably 5 stars for the kids, but half as much for adults, and only 1 star if you lived through the original Robyn Williams version.

I'm very old-fashioned! Grew up reading the story of Aladdin (not the Little Golden Book) and was hoping Disney would do something great with this. I'm only one voice but I found it the most disappointing version ever. Would rather the cartoon than this. Way too much bad singing. The only thing that saved it was the magic carpet . I love everything Disney....but not this! Woeful from start to finish 👎👎👎
