There maybe a few points of criticism but overall the movie is great. It feels like a drama from ancient times. The acting is fantastic and as the tension between Alexander and his army builds some of the best scenes come out of the cast. One of the movie's biggest asset is the music especially on the eve of battle with a repeated single note that builds until released with the course of action. The only disappointment I can find is the quality of the video is not the best it could be and maybe a result of heavy post filtering. It's hard to tell how much film grain is on it at times which is a curse and a blessing. Film grain is a great contributor of giving a movie the look of a hollywood film and not a homemade film but the heavier it is the worst the picture quality looks. Another thing is the use of shaky cam in the action is too much and the picture often seems like a blurred mess. It's not nearly Transformers bad but bad enough.

I haven't seen this version, but overall this movie is pretty bad. The casting (Colin Ferrell, Angelina Jolie, Val Kilmer, etc) is poor, and the script is all over the place. Ferrell typically over acts and underperforms, and Angie is unconvincing. Worth renting maybe, but not worth buying unless it's on sale.

Oliver Stone can't stop futzing around with his historical epic, although he's assured us this is the definitive version. This 10th anniversary edition has a bounty of extras, including two audio commentaries by Stone himself. However, it got terrible reviews.
