I genuinely enjoyed this addition to the Alien series, when it was originally released; but I did realize the issues many people had with it were valid. Bits of the story didn't make coherent sense, the cgi (while daring for the time) was not great, and several favorite characters were sadly missing. But, if you are able to accept every Alien film as its director's unique take on the universe Ripley lives in, and can get past the limited ability of the effects of the time, this edition fixes the story.

Because it's my favorite of the franchise for lots of reasons it's just cool seeing extra scenes with some hints of Fincher's original vision with these very interesting characters. I kinda treat each version separately even though they have a lot of the same scenes, but because of that whole other plot element in the middle with Golic and the dog vs bison element, but yeah seeing this version after seeing the regular one so many times is a real treat if you are one of the few that doesn't hate this movie.

I love this film. Unlike most alien fans, this is my favorite. I've seen the theatrical version & this, the special version. Forget the theatrical. They added scenes here, occasionally the audio is bad, bit of static, volume goes down... It's annoying. However it's worth it. There are many added scenes sounding fine & they expand the story well. Great version.
