A beautiful action sci-fi drama full of heart. It deserves to be seen if only to experience the emotive lead performance of Rosa Salazar's groundbreaking CGI protagonist (the first CGI humanoid to lead a majority live action film). You experience and learn about the world of Iron City through the titular character's wide eyes, she is so endearing that it's likely you will care deeply about what she goes through in her emotional arc as her character develops throughout the two hour run time. From a young naive girl finding her place in the world and her first love, to a self-assured strong warrior ready to fight for what she believes in. The action and effects are top tier, the cinematography and music are beautiful, the performances are great (especially Rosa Salazar and Christoph Waltz). From a personal perspective the film's tone was also a nice change of pace, without the tension-killing comedy you find in most big budget action films these days. Its story isn't anything new but it tells it in such a sincere, heartfelt way that it captured my heart from start to finish. Not to be missed!

It is more expensive here than it is on Amazon where I ended up renting this. The storyline and overall production are good. I was often 'pulled out' of the film though when I got distracted by the cartoon-ie face of the main character; also the dialogue is often clearly geared towards a young teenage audience - as an adult you will struggle a little. Finally some of the fight sequences ignored physics - the CGI animation that replaced the actors was not as well as you would expect.

A truly remarkable film about a cyborg girl with a warriors spirit. I fell in love with the character of Alita the moment she opens her wide eyes and begins learning about the world she's woken up in. This film is without a doubt one of the best films I've seen in years and I highly recommend it! The film has gotten a lot of unjust criticism and I'd say ignore the people claiming this film is bad, odds are they haven't seen or didn't understand it, watch it for yourself and form your own opinion
