Cole, an aspiring 20-something screenwriter, decides to write his most ambitious script to date - plotting out a whimsical, rom-com relationship with the daughter of his screenwriting idol - in hope of meeting her legendary father, & getting a leg up in showbiz. But as Cole increasingly neglects & denies his complex bond with his best friend Austin to focus on his movie-perfect relationship, he writes himself into a corner both morally & romantically. Cole is forced to admit that the non-scripted draft of his life is filled with complicated feelings for Austin. He realises that his charming romance with Haley, while carefully crafted, was built on a lie -- and no matter how much he wants his story to be true, he can't continue living a make-believe role, ripped from a screen.
