درباره این فیلم

New Orleans, Louisiana...1939. After escaping from a dog pound, junkyard German shepherd Charlie B. Barkin is double-crossed and killed by his old gambling partner, a pit bull named Carface Malone. Finding himself at the great pet cemetery in the sky without a good deed to his name, Charlie is returned to Earth, where a little orphan girl (who can speak to dogs and predict race winners) comes to rely upon him for help. Charlie sees that he can use the girl as a way to regain his old business and get revenge against Carface. But instead Charlie learns that there is something else much more valuable, something which he missed in life the first time around...love.

I've seen this film quite a couple times, but each time it always makes me want to shed a tear. Especially the song at the end of the credits. The storyline is great, the voice acting is astonishing, and the animation is amazing! The only thing I'm really sad about is that the full, uncut version without the two missing scenes was stolen from the creator and destroyed, rendering an uncut version impossible... Amazing film either way!

Having viewed this film for the first time in 2019, I think I’ve got a pretty unique perspective. As best as I can surmise, I watched All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 for the first time in 1998, and until recently I didn’t really remember much about that. For whatever reason I got it in my head that I wanted to watch the original film, and so I bought it—perhaps the best ten bucks I ever spent. Look I’ve always loved animation, and growing up I was a spoiled Disney kid, but there’s always been a special place in my heart for traditional gritty hand drawn stuff; I find this persists in my taste of artwork even to this day. Point is, All Dogs Go to Heaven is an absolute audio-visual joy—and I don’t use that word lightly. There’s a tremendous amount of depth and feel to this film that I simply can not put into words. If you’re board and tired with modern animation, if the switch to 3D everything has you down, please for the love of all that is holey, buy and watch this movie. I’ve watched it three times in two days, and I’m still amazed by the overall style, art direction and fluidity of the animation.
