That was way too long for a movie without any words!!! Well, except for the F word.... and a couple of mumbles.... AND no expression on his face what so ever! !! I mean, he is lost at sea here, and everything bad that can happen, happens! !! Anybody else would be talking to himself like crazy!!!?!! He was like a self sufficient robot without any thoughts. If you want something like this but with the thinking and the talking try "En Solitaire" french movie (Turning Tide).

Magnificent film! It provides an extremely interesting existential experience, a sense of the self in relation to nature, hardship, and the eternal struggle to survive. Watching the film is itself a kind of positive meditative experience. I felt very similar when watching the documentary 'Into Great Silence' about Carthusian Monks. This is the kind of film to watch early in the morning or late at night...no one around, just you and a cup of coffee or Scotch in the silence of the moment. Take in the experience. Make it part of your Existenz.

excellent film, and great non-acting by Redford - loved it!
