Not for those with short attebtion spans, or those expecting explosive action sequences. The movie is a philosophical expression of a quest for survival, ultimately the only thing that matters, and the theme of hope (or the lack thereof) is powerfully conveyed in each challang the hero faces.

If you describe this movie about one bloke on a boat in the ocean, trying to survive after his boat gets a hole punched through it, and that he is the only actor in the movie and there is no dialogue, you would think it was rubbish. But honestly this is a brilliantly created and performed movie. Sensational performance from Robert Redford and you keep watching right to the end.

Frustrating...sad....triumphant....didn't expect to enjoy this movie but did. Boy that guy was having one bad sailing experience after another! Was feeling so frustrated for him. Little dialogue but that added to the beauty of this little masterpiece
