I watched this film in the theater and I found it extremely dull. A story of how wolves may of been domesticated, Yes may of .... nobody really knows, there were no written records so the first point is this is just a story. The hero goes out on his first hunt and there was an accident, the rest of the tribe left him for dead .... with a late ice age winter closing in .... how he survives ..... is boring. I have no idea how the first wolves were domesticated and never does the people who wrote this dull film. However I suspect domestication came slow, wild dog hanging near hunters .... slowly over a long time they start to get over their fears. Not one guy finds one wolf and together survive, .... followed by the next seen where all hunters have wolves.

First of all, the movie is subtitled with a language that is not real, so they didn't have to really do this . The movie is very engaging and the visuals were very colorful and picturesque. The movie keeps you interested and it goes on like a survival film with man and wolf against the elements. It is sort of predictable but enjoyable to say the least. You will enjoy the way the relationship with the wolf and boy develop and this is the essence of the movie (I think) and the feel good part. There is not much violence, nor profanity or unusual acts of nature, it is just what you expect. Worth looking at with kids or just to pass the time. You've seen it before in other films, not as good as eight below from Disney but still worth a watch.

I would only watch it as a rental. It is a clean movie...no foul language or sexual content. The made up language was pointless. we get that its supposed to be 20,000 years ago...its ok to have them speak English. Started out ok, but after the main character falls off the cliff it's a lot of the same stuff... walking through the snow. Seemed like a lot of filler. The main point was that the boy was supposed to "come of age". I didn't get the sense that ever happened. Too much of a beta male
