Kristen Stewart antaa vaikuttavan suorituksen tässä toiminnantäyteisessä scifitrillerissä. Vedenalaisen kaivoslaitoksen Keplerin miehistö tiesi, että heidän tehtävänsä ei olisi haasteeton, 30 päivää ahtaissa tiloissa 11 kilometrin syvyydessä merenpinnan alapuolella ja 8 000 kilometrin päässä lähimmästä rannikosta. Mutta mikään ei valmistanut heitä pian vastaan tuleviin kauhuihin. Vertahyytävä seikkailu alkaa, kun tuhoisa maanjäristys vahingoittaa laitosta, mukaan lukien sen viestintälaitteita ja hätäpoistumisajoneuvoa. Vaikka nopeaälyinen koneinsinööri Norah Price (Stewart) saa väliaikaisesti estettyä välittömän vaaran, tarve evakuoinnille kasvaa nopeasti. Koska hätäviestiä ei voi lähettää radiolla, Norahin ja muiden jäljelle jääneiden miehistön jäsenten vaihtoehdot alkavat huveta. Ainoa toivo on kävellä hylätylle kulkuneuvolle läpi merenpohjan toivoen sen viestintälaitteiston yhä toimivan. Miehistön painepuvuissa on rajallinen happimäärä, joten vaarallinen kilpa aikaa vastaan alkaa. Matka merenpohjassa on jo vaaroja täynnä, mutta joukko alkaa aistia, etteivät he ole yksin sameassa syvyydessä. Jokin keskuudessaan on jotain mystistä. Yhtäkkiä miehistö on keskellä vaarallista kissa-hiiri-jahtia tuntemattoman saalistajan kanssa. Heidän on loihdittava esiin ennennäkemätöntä voimaa ja rohkeutta selviytyäkseen. Elokuvaa tähdittävät myös Vincent Cassel, Jessica Henwick, T. J. Miller, John Gallagher Jr. sekä Mamoudou Athie. Tämä jäätävän jännittävä seikkailu on täynnä loputonta toimintaa alusta loppuun.

Disappointing. It wasn't infuriatingly awful the way Alien Covenant was, but there's not much to redeem this aside from being... not the worst movie out there. Fun effects and the occasional tense scene can't bring this back from being a very weak, hard to enjoy failure. I really wanted to love this, but even after watching it twice, I can't find enough positives to even like it.

Way better then I expected after reading the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Never a dull moment, the wild ride starts almost immediately with very few chances to catch your breath. The story does not waste your time giving every drop of information about WHY things happened, but just enough to get the general idea and keep things moving. The cast did a great job in their roles and the characters were not faceless, but like the story, gives you just enough to care what happens to them. The CGI was good, worked well for the setting of deep underwater with things happening very fast. All in all, a great movie I do not regret watching.

Instantly became one of my favorite sci-fi horror movies. Pros: The acting is all stellar (even TJ Miller who usually I don't like). The film is fast paced and never boring. The use of lighting (or lack there of) is great in setting making each scene suspense without being too dark to see. It sets up mysteries, answers some, and brings up more. Most of all, all the characters make smart decisions and behave like actual people. This is a movie respects its audience. Cons: They could have spent a little more time developing the characters and making us care about them. Sometimes the deep sea suits move too fast for what it feels like trying to move underwater. Occasionally the sound/music was loud and distracting. Personally, this movie checked all the boxes I wanted, but I get that it may leave some wanting more.
