About this movie

Amelie Poulain has led a sheltered life educated at home by over-protective parents, she retreats into a fantasy world of her own. When she finally leaves home and finds work as a waitress in a Parisian café, life is pretty uneventful until a chain of extraordinary events leads her to the discovery of a tin box containing a schoolboy's long forgotten mementos. It is then that Amelie discovers her true vocation in life helping others find love and happiness which she sets about in her own unique and magical way. When Amelie falls in love herself, she realizes that making neat solutions is not as easy as it seems...- 2001 UGC images - Taoipca Films - France 3 Cinema- MMC Independent - All rights reserved.

I can kinda see why some ppl like this, it can certainly be accused of being charming and quirky. IMO tho, it can also be accused of being overlong and tedious; not so bad that i cut it short and wandered off, but relieved that it only cost 99p to rent. Also, while not impossible to read the subs, it was challenging at times - certainly on a phone. One for just the sappy romantics probably.

I've often wanted to watch this but I've never gotten round to it. This was a ridiculously cute and random story . Very much like wes Anderson's movies..uplifting and makes you feel gooey :-) like a bag of marshmallows left on a radiator

One of my favourite films of all time. Along with "Au revoir, les enfants", which is another great film, they are must-sees if you're looking for a good french film! 10/10
