I enjoyed this movie for several reasons, though I won't spoil the surprises in it. American History X is a story of a smart young man who blames all blacks for the death of his firefighter father who was shot and killed in cold blood while putting out a fire in a "black ghetto". He then finds an older neo nazi who the protagonist befriends. Many things happen which the 'loyalty' among the Aryan Brotherhood is tried, tested and stretched to the limit of breaking. Redemption then follows.

This movie is a classic, it depicts many issues and stereotypes with today's society, mainly racism. It shows us through the character's, that even people filled with hatred can change and have love towards their fellow man no matter what the color of their skin. An epic movie filled with plot twists and heart felt tragedy, as well as a somewhat painful epiphany and victory in the final scenes.

Shows how "coded language" used by one generation can lead to full blown violent hate in the next. Realistic portrayal of gang life, recruitment and also the "chicken hawks" and predators behind it all. On the surface a story about "racism" but really a story of broken families and those in our society who pray upon them. Happens all the time, every day, across cultures. Eye opening to the reality of class conflict, that in America, is masked under racism=divide and conquer.
