About this movie

The con is one when scam artists and lovers Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) and Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) are entrapped by ambitious FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper) and coerced into participating in a major sting operation which hinges on snaring politician Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner) and his associates. Complicating matters is Irving’s wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence), who could bring the whole operation crashing down around them all. From the director of Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter, AMERICAN HUSTLE is outrageously entertaining and one of the most acclaimed films of the year.

Although it was enjoyable to watch for most of it, it's pretty forgettable. It's well shot, acted, and the production and costume design are great but it is simply too long for it's own good. I thought it was going to end at least 3 times before it did, the first time it turned out I had an hour left to go! If it was 40 minutes shorter it would've easily gotten a 5 from me but due to the languishing pace and, at times, overzealous camera movement I can't give it that. Simply put, this movie is exhausting.

Good movie, personally I thought it was going to be about something different but the story told was still interesting. Great cast Bale, Cooper, Renner & Adams all pull off top notch performances. I think this is the 1st movie that I've ever seen C.Bale over weight typically he's either ripped or skinny as hell. Overall great movie to rent.

It is sad that so many people rate it 1 or 2. Maybe they expected some shootings, fights, car chases, etc. In my opinion the movie is brilliant. The plot is a bit complex, so it might be hard to grasp if you do not pay attention. Bale's character is awesome! Also, the film is very stylish.
