It's one of those movies that you have to be in the right mood for. It's listed as a comedy... I was expecting something similar to the Bourne Identity with some form of humor. Sure it was somewhat funny at the beginning of the movie. But after that, It just dried up. Honestly... I wish I hadn't bought it. The Trailer looked sweet. The movie does not live up to the trailer. The acting isn't bad, but the story just isn't there... If your looking for something humorous, look somewhere else. If your looking for something even remotely like the trailer for this movie, look somewhere else.

Watched it on Amazon Prime. Honestly, I'm really glad it was free. It's nothing new. Average Joe with issues is secretly freaking fantastic. It was cheesy but didn't seem to intend to be. I actually liked the laughing guy character, but what he was revealed to be was fairly obvious. Sure, there's explosions, and sure the acting is pretty decent. If you've got a coupon, Amazon Prime, Netflix, or it happens to be available at Redbox, I say give it a go because it's still entertaining but predictable. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

I saw this film the day it was released in theaters. I enjoed the film and originally gave 5 stars. However, this movie is not about two pot heads in West Virgina. This movie is actually about MK Ultra mind control, hence the title American Ultra. It rages with Illuminati symbolism...from the all seeing Eye tattoos on their ankles, to the numerous screenshots of Jeese Eisenberg's Eye. I'm sure the Illuminati and the Elite gave it 5 stars, but I score it as a 3, due to the misrepresentation of this film.
