American Underdog tells the inspirational true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi), who longs to become an NFL player, but years of setbacks constantly prevent him from reaching his goal. As Kurt stocks shelves in a supermarket with his dreams all but out of reach, his wife (Anna Paquin), coaches, and teammates encourage him to show the world the champion they know him to be. Kurt perseveres and finds the strength to become the legendary two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and Hall of Fame quarterback - proving that anything is possible with faith, family, and determination.

Good story, creative approach, the 'based on a true story' has some appeal for those of us looking beyond simple escapist content. I found myself really pulling for Kurt/Zach and Brenda/Anna when things looked pretty dark for them. The reveal of Zack was pretty emotional too. Great locations for this production away from the glare of L.A.

Powerful, this is just solid. A very inspirational story that will make you tear up....a story that is so rare and unique in football. Perfectly performed by great actors. Highly recommend this for the sport fans.

Missed seeing this in the theater, but as a St. Louisan - and having witnessed the extraordinary career of Kurt Warner - I knew I would buy the movie regardless to how good it turned out to be. It didn't disappoint. I read some criticisms that the movie didn't focus so much on the on-field performances. Those of us who lived through it saw how remarkable the man and the team were. It was more interesting for me to see the behind-the-scenes drama unfold. I give it five stars.
