A film of tremendous spirit and hope, Amerikatsi follows Charlie as he returns to his Armenian homeland and finds a country under Soviet rule. After being unjustly imprisoned, he soon discovers he can see into a nearby apartment from his cell window. As his life becomes entwined with the prison guard who lives there, Charlie begins to see that the spirit of his homeland is alive and well.

This is the most incredible, underrated movie ever made. It is an all around, epic Oscar worthy film, with incredible acting and storytelling, that anyone and everyone can relate to. I've watched it thrice and each time, laughed a lot and cried uncontrollably. Before this movie, I didn't know what to say when someone asked me what my favorite cinema was. Now I will respond with "Amerikatsi, forever and ever, until the end of time".

Brilliant story telling. Hats off to Michael G. for a Chaplinesque approach to Armenians returning to Stalin's rule.

Just watched it and Im mesmerized by how well it was filmed
