When there is an assassination attempt on U.S. President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), his trusted confidant, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), is wrongfully accused and taken into custody. After escaping from capture, he becomes a man on the run and must evade his own agency and outsmart the FBI in order to find the real threat to the President. Desperate to uncover the truth, Banning turns to unlikely allies to help clear his name, keep his family from harm and save the country from imminent danger.

Gerard Butler's 'hardman par excellence' character Mike Banning has suffered so many knocks and assorted terrorist attacks, it's a wonder he can still whip about. But whip about he does in this'threequel' that is derivative schlock enlivened by a smashing support cast that includes Danny Huston and, even better, Nick Nolte as Banning's 'Wild Man of Borneo' Pa. The weakest film in the trilogy but still a good move. Gérard Butler just is Mike Banning and brings gritty realism to his character. Definitely worth a watch

Weakest film of the series. What would he have done without his Dad, the hermit in the woods? He only blew up most of bad guys and local trees - a bit contrived.
