“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Having grown up with the Harry Potter books and movies I gotta say, I really love that they have taken some note worthy characters and given some more insight on their impact on the Wizarding world. Especially liked that it takes place in America since I have always wondered what the Wizarding situation was like here. The creatures were captivating although some I don't recall being mentioned in any of the HP books. I'd love to see more movies like this, based in Eastern Europe or SE asia.

It's a movie that features action and is PG-13. I'd give it a 2 but it's pretty whatchable as a one off HP story.

Great! Loved it! A little dark halfway through but what Harry Potter movie isn't? The creatures were well designed all the way through, and the story was awesome! Newt has to be my personal favorite because I can relate to him on so many levels. Totally recommend for 12+ at least.
