I haven't read the book this is based on, but I did see someone mentioned H.P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space, and I have read that and much of his work. To say Lovecraft did it better is arguable, but it isn't the same story. It's a similar story true, but this story focuses on more than just the main anomaly. I loved this movie, the plot was very interesting to me and made me think. A lot of the scenes were just spectacular, and the suspense and Lovecraftian horror in it were so well done. The only thing I would say could've been a bit better was the character development for some of the characters, but other than that it was very well done.

I love me some sci-fi, but this...gah. I giving this 2 stars just on the strength of the main actors giving it their best, but the story was really unsatisfying. You have to really love unresolved endings to enjoy this. Good luck...

Meh...a bit of a rip off of HP Lovecraft's "The Colour From Space"...which is actually a movie now. Other than that it wasn't horrible or a waste of time. The we-gotta-have-an-all-female-cast-of-heroes is definitely forced and unavoidable while watching. it doesn't play into the plot whatsoever, just someone's bright idea to assert girl power. But whatever.
