Great movie. Shows some systemic issues that impact many children who end up in the system. Abandonment, identity issues due to no kinship connection and that not being fostered. Emotional issues not being able to deal with emotions in a healthy way. The effects that physical, mental, sexual abuse and some of the issues that can arise from them. The lack of case worker involvement. The impact of what cognitive therapy can achieve if right supports are there, accessibility/availability is there.

A positive depiction of the effect of personal choices on outcomes inspite of poverty/difficulties. Great focus on the importance of male role models and fathers and what happens to children and society in their absence. Denzel is great as always.
