About this movie

From director Todd Douglas Miller (Dinosaur 13) comes a cinematic event 50 years in the making. Crafted from a newly discovered trove of 65mm footage, and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings, Apollo 11 takes us straight to the heart of NASA's most celebrated mission—the one that first put men on the moon, and forever made Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into household names. Immersed in the perspectives of the astronauts, the team in Mission Control, and the millions of spectators on the ground, we vividly experience those momentous days and hours in 1969 when humankind took a giant leap into the future.

Having just met matt morton (music composer for the film) for a showing of this film I can say it is amazing! Only made more wonderful by it being shown in the shadow of the lovell telescope (at jodrell bank for bluedot festival) at 1am on the morning of the 50th anniversary of man's first steps on the moon & to then watch as the lovell telescope is illuminated by projections of the moon landing with the sounds of the radio chatter.... All leading to the 3:56am first step. WOW!!!!

Great documentary, thoroughly absorbing. Saw it on IMAX - felt like you were in the air looking down at the Saturn V and it was magnificent to see it all on the big screen. I already want to see it again, both in the cinema and at home.

The background noise ruined an interesting story so unable to hear any dialogue. I was really looking forward to seeing it having lived through that exciting time.
