This Academy Award winner for Best Picture stars David Niven, Cantinflas and Shirley MacLaine in a star-studded, globe-circling, romantic adventure based on Jules Verne's classic novel. When adventurous Englishman Phileas Fogg (Niven) makes an incredible wager in 1872 that he can circle the globe in eighty days, he embarks on a fantastic journey with his valet (Cantinflas) and encounters high adventure, romance, unending obstacles and daring escapes amidst wondrous and breathtaking scenic beauty.

A grand, sometimes light-hearted epic from a lighter era. Pretty close to Jules Verne's classic adventure novel. This has never been released on blu ray since it was filmed in Cinerama and never properly mastered beyond DVD.

Get me right, the film is excellent! But the copy that Google are selling as "HD" is far from that - AND worst of all the film format is slightly wrong so everything looks distorted!! This looks more or less as a copy of an VHS... what has gone wrong?

Fantastic piece of art, it is long but the photography is spectacular. Cantinflas like always a Chaplin. A masterpiece of that time.
