If the political motivation behind it wasn't screaming in my face, I would have given it 4 stars. Either be honest about it like the "Iron Giant" or don't put politics in it at all. The only reason it gets 2 stars and not 1 is because as a fictional children's movie, it was enjoyable.

Decent film, would make the 7-11 year olds really happy. Cage does surprisingly a good job as Astro Boy's Dad too.

Astroboy was the first anime series to hit America, in the 1960s and I was a big fan! I was delighted to discover this movie and enjoyed it every bit as much as the classic series. I would love to see a sequel, as the manga and original anime went way beyond this story. Not really optimistic that it will happen, but the franchise is much beloved in Japan so it might happen. And I'll be watching that one too!
