Minimalistic hard SF. Drama, not action. Don't expect handwavium propelled city-size space dreadnoughts blasting one another with lasers making noise in vacuum, or anything like that. Don't expect superluminar communications, don't expect Earth - Jupiter travel in 15m... Expect claustrophobia and loneliness which would drive almost anyone insane...

Like Europa Report, another film I enjoyed, Astronaut: The Last Push is less an exploration film and more a human drama about how a single man deals with tragedy and solitude. I felt it was well acted, the effects were believable. The story moved along at an appropriate pace. As for the accuracy of the science; well, I can't really say. All in all, worth the rental fee.

This movie is an exploration of sheer human will and determination. Beautifully shot and edited with an original sound score that really moved along with the movie. Not for action buffs but very intriguing and kept my interest right through the credits.. Space nerds like myself will love this film!
