About this movie

On a sweltering Australia Day in Brisbane, the worlds of three young people collide. Indigenous teen April, young Chinese woman Lan, and Sami - an Iranian-Australian teen - are desperate and on the run. As each of their stories unfold, farmer (Bryan Brown), Indigenous policewoman (Shari Sebbens) and homicide detective (Matthew Le Nevez) are also swept into a whirlpool of violence, racism and resentment. Provocative and illuminating, Australia Day offers a fascinating take on national identity and the cultural tension that lurks beneath the surface of modern Australian society.

Baffled as to why it's named "australia day" ? However this is a very true representation on what goes on here in brisbane. My husband's family are all aboriginal police officers and I have a history in law enforcement. And we are very active in the community. All 3 of these stories are more common than the average Australian realises

Must see, very humane, hard to watch at times but hits some nerves about current Australian issues
