Shubhobroto (Indraneil Sengupta) is an ambitious but inexperienced filmmaker who aiming for success with his first film venture being a remake of Satyajit Ray's 1966 film Nayak, in a contemporary manner. He makes several attempts to approach established star actor Arun Chatterjee (Prosenjit Chatterjee) to be the lead actor, but is continually spurned by Arun's associates Ashish (Pijush Ganguly) and Partha (Dwijen Banerjee). Over time, Arun receives a severe jolt to his ego caused by a public putdown from successful producer Manoj Sarkar (Biswajit Chakraborty) on a TV channel. Arun decides to take it upon himself as a challenge he decides to finance the movie, playing the lead, arranging for its production. Shubhobroto decides to cast his live-in girlfriend Srinandita (Nandana Sen), an actress involved theatre. The narrative of the film's storyline runs parallel to real life where the friendship between the casted actors grows to such an extent, with confessions of deepest secrets while feeling of guilt, signifying repentance. The exchange is videotaped accidentally and is leaked without their consent as a publicity stunt for the film. Arun gets furious about the leak, bars the film from being released.
