Sometimes there's a reason movies to straight to video. Don't waste your time here, Sharknado would be better. Unless you thoroughly enjoy seeing robots being blasted (in which case you can watch without volume to save yourself of the horrible acting) watch something like "The Machine "

I can see why many are tempted to compare it to Blade Runner and I, Robot, but to call Automata a rip off of those films is to sell it short. This is a great story in its own right. The effects aren't fancy, but they support the story well. This isn't a high-budget sci-fi/action film. It aims to make you think. I found it to be intelligent, visually stunning, and entertaining. I enjoyed the performances of Banderas and McDermott, as well as the rest of the cast. I appreciated it most for the questions it asks about what it means to be "alive", and to grow and evolve. Don't write it off. At a rental price (as of Feb, 2015) of $0.99, it is totally worth a look.
