More and more female lead roles are nothing but men directing the same violent mess but with women as leads, that's not creativity. Yet these cookie cutter "action" scripts completely don't utilize the real power of women, who have a cunningness and energy that can surpass pure brutishness and violence, which is tired and old and needs to be filed away. I think Hollywood just switched genders on violent action films and still has no depth. I'd love to see a cerebral film where violence isn't used in the way most women actresses are exploited now in typical Hollywood plots, but with the intelligence that a woman can do a lead in an assassin or spy film that puts her miles ahead of her male counterparts in these same trite roles/scripts Hollywood only knows how to produce.

Terrible. Tons of unnecessary drama between Ava and her sister, along with her fianace (Common, aka one of the worst actors ever). Jessica Chastain's production house made this movie so of course she's a producer as well which is probably the only reason this turd actually got made. Just avoid it.

It was fun to watch once. It's not that original of a film, but it did go in a different direction than I thought from the first few minutes. I think other reviewers were hard on the actors. They did OK. There was some odd dialog in parts and a natural awkwardness in the film. It made you feel a little uneasy while watching it.
