Some people have given it 1 star, which sort of suggests the film is broken. It's not broken. It does have quite a glib portrayal of racism, which did annoy me. I introduced my non-white wife to my white working class family, and it was nothing at all like it was in the movie. Quite the opposite in fact. Ironically my Grandad was an MP in the war too, and my wife's family were on the other-side so to speak. My family was nothing like the family in the film. The characters are fairly boring cliches truth be told. They were opportunities to spice it up, the Indian Doctor could have sided with the grumpy old OAP. The mother could have been the nut job in control. The sisters character curve could have been interesting. ...but it wasn't. Women = weak, including the Doctor, which made no sense, Men = insane. Old Men = Racist. Mothers are pathetic. Without ranting more, the characters are annoying, lazily designed and basically for me, ruined the film. The film is made on a tight budget, but the scifi idea is modest, and it kind of works well. It's like watching a watered down David Lynch movie with a smattering of John Carpenter.
