...But the writing does not. The relationships between these characters makes me feel like a human watching an alien movie. I just don't get these people or what goes on in their heads to make them speak and act as they do. Battles are gory and over the top - which can be fun but also tedious given the ridiculously verbose antagonists and total dependence of the plot on one big sword.

For all of us Anime fans, the Berserk manga and Anime are amoung some of the most followed Cult-Classics of our time and rivals that of Akira (1988) and Vampire Huntenr D (1983). This remastered version of the Anime series is one of the best I've seen in years and it stays true to the orignal series almost scene-for-scene and I highly recommend watching all 3 movies (Arc I-III).

The story was interesting, but it was hampered by their fusion of 2D/3D animation. Early on there were many moments that it was a turn off, but as the film went on it didn't seem as bad. It's soundtrack and ability to capture fight scenes greatly carried the film for me.
