The current day assault on democracy did not begin with Trumpism. It did not begin with the Tea Party. It did not begin with the Moral Majority. It did not even begin in this century. The current day assault on democracy began with the White Supremacy Movement in the 1960’s as part of a shrewd, calculated, and well executed plan that became cloaked as a religious movement. Today those white supremacists and their heirs are known as Christian Nationalists. BAD FAITH: CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM'S UNHOLY WAR ON DEMOCRACY is their story.

Well researched account of the rise of white Christian nationalism in the US. The filmmakers do an excellent job of explaining the reasons for the rise of this movement in the mid-20th century and how it developed into the current extremism on the right, January 6th, and more. While they are obviously against the movement, they let proponents' words speak for themselves and are careful to give voice to the many Christians who are fighting against this perversion of their core beliefs.
