About this movie

"When they lose their father to a heart-attack, two estranged brothers, Ninos and Sargon, re-unite for the first time in ten years due to a major fight they had about money. As the brothers are visited by mourners paying their respects, they realize there is much more to the story than a simple heart attack; and it has to do with a winning lotto ticket worth $5 million. Suddenly, the two brothers set aside their differences to track down “their” winnings. As they rack up one clue after another, the brothers find something more important than the money; the brotherly love they once had. “Basamtit Reesha” is a feature length (100 min) Assyrian comedy with fun characters and several hysterical moments the audience will certainly enjoy. This family friendly movie not only focuses on story, character, and comedic moments, but also has an important message when all said and done; that all the money in the world cannot replace family.”

This is hilarious! Many of the funniest Assyrian phrases, words, and reactions are used in this film. For instance, the reaction of an older Assyrian individual to khmara (jackass) mannerisms of a younger person, which is breath-takingly hilarious for Assyrian-speakers (only in fictional depictions and/or story-telling). This film does a great job at depicting some of the Assyrian humor for its scope of personalities, settings, and storyline. Watched it with family the first time and will definitely watch it again with friends next time. Spectacular quality, meaningful camera angles, and a film well done! Raabaa sodanta u magkhikanta eela!
