Le jeune Bruce Wayne voit ses parents assassiner sous ses yeux par Jack Napier. Plusieurs années plus tard, lorsque Gotham City est submergée par la criminalité, un nouvel héros fait apparition : un prénommé Batman. Il va prendre ces loubards au collet et tenter d'enrayer la criminalité. Lorsqu'il se retrouve finalement face à face avec l'assassin des parents de Bruce Wayne, il le jette dans un fût rempli d'acide. Jack survivra et deviendra... The Joker. Ce "clown du crime" va s'occuper personnellement du sort de Batman.

A great movie overall wonderfull performance's by Jack Nichson and Michael Keaton I also love the classic backdrops and amazing score by Danny Elfman the reason it misses a five star rating is compared to later Batman movies there is not enough action and most charecters are very one dimensional still I belive this is one of Tim Burtons greatest films and delivers everything you want from a 1980s take on a Batman film

Best Batman movie ever made! As the Batman movies got made throughout the years from that point on they just got lame & stupid!

It's a perfect Batman movie for 1989. I don't know that I'd change a thing.
