Battleground is a 1949 film based upon the wartime experiences of its writer Robert Pirosh. It centres around a group of soldiers of the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division defending the beleaguered Belgian town of Bastonge during the Battle of the Bulge from December 1944 to January 1945. A number of the cast members were also 101st veterans.

But more accurate and intimate than the well known blockbuster!
