Warning, this movie is rated I for immature audiences. If you are over twelve years of age, you will be highly offended at it's incredibly childish premise. The movie begins with 30 minutes of boring lead story introducing the most unlikely character to ever become a US Navy officer. A neer do well in his twenties who robs a convenience store and is tasered by cops while escaping. His brother bails him out and before he even has a chance to do time for his crime, his bro tells him, you need to straighten yourself out, go join the Navy. (The Navy doesn't accept convicted criminals so...) In the next scene, our hero is a first lieutenant in the US Navy. After losing his destroyer in battle, they fire up an antique battleship, mothballed for decades serving as a museum exhibit which just happens to have fuel and munitions left over from the last time it was at sea. Pretty miraculous to say the least. If not for the effects, this movie offers absolutely nothing.

Really enjoyed the movie. I (maybe) watch 3 or 4 movies a year, mostly due to the fact that IMO there is nothing but garbage being released for the most part. While this one is not going to make any great strides in changing my opinion, I do have to say that the SFX are pretty awesome. The acting on the other hand, well, let's just say that, Rihanna shouldn't quit her other job just yet. All in all though, it is worth the rental price and popcorn. Hell, I'll even say the price of the gas to go get it.

I figured I could watch this as a 'turn your brain off and just appreciate the CGI'. It was definitely that, but the story wasn't AS bad as I thought it would be. Rhianna was even bearable. Its fun to watch, don't get too critical and just enjoy it. Could probably be a decent drinking game :)
