When a dangerous crime wave hits the beach, legendary Lt. Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) leads his elite squad of badass lifeguards on a mission to prove you don't have to wear a badge to save the bay. Joined by a trio of hot-shot recruits including former Olympian Matt Brody (Efron), they'll ditch the surf and go deep undercover to take down a ruthless businesswoman (Priyanka Chopra, TV's “Quantico”), whose devious plans threaten the future of the bay. So, suit up and dive into action with the hottest movie of the year!

Ok, so it isn't really 4 stars - more like 3.5, but it would have felt mean to only give this movie 3 stars. There were lots of genuine giggles and clever moments in this script. Not sure what I was expecting, but it was so much better than I thought it would be (hence my generous score). And hats off to Zac Efron for trying hard to play a role not really in his wheelhouse. I encourage other skeptics to give it a go - I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Its meant to be a piss take movie, so if you dont like that sort of thing then dont watch it but I thought it was funny and did a good job of making fun of Baywatch in a respectful way.

It is light entertainment making fun of an old TV series. If you expect a complex plot, well, c'mon it's Baywatch! Good casting.
