The Beat Beneath My Feat is a fantastic story of friendship, music, and personal redemption. Luke Perry and Nicholas Galitzine have spectacular chemistry as two musicians stuck in their own personal hell. What is particularly notable about this film are its surreal musical sequences. Director John Williams (who directed music videos for Radiohead and Coldplay) flexes his talent by staging offbeat mini-music videos filled with brilliant metaphors for the events of the plot. The film manages to shift the focus away from the cliches of the "high school loser" story by focusing on the budding relationship between Luke Perry's tortured musician and Lisa Dillon's overprotective mother. The Beat Beneath My Feet is a thoroughly captivating and entertaining musical romp, and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
